方呈祥, 教授,博士生导师,研究专业为微生物学,主要研究方向为: 微生物遗传学和系统微生物学。1975.12 - 现在,在武汉大学生命科学学院任教。1993.06-1993.12 在日本大阪发酵研究所(IFO)进行合作研究。1999.02- 现在在中国典型培养物保藏中心任副主任。

1. 微生物遗传学
1)已建立以λ溶原菌作为一种细胞模式,深入研究λ原噬菌体紫外诱导的自由基机理;
2)影响微生物代谢调控的功能性基因及其克隆与表达;
3)自由基对微生物细胞程序性死亡、发育与分化的影响。
2. 系统微生物学
1)原核生物系统学研究(典型分类学、化学分类以及分子分类);
2)产自由基清除剂微生物资源的研究;
3)微生物资源整合、开发与应用。
